Dr Turlais first studied chemistry at the University of Poitiers and then in England, graduating in 1993, this was followed by a PhD in screening bioactive natural products with Pfizer and the University of Hertfordshire in 1997. Fabrice continued to specialised in screening and automation, incorporating compound library management, in his early career, first at the Institute of Cancer Research, ICR Sutton, before moving on to Celltech (now UCB) where he was responsible for both screening and compound management. He then held various positions at Biofocus, MedImmune and The Automation Partnership, with lead roles in HTS, automation and sample management. With a group leader role at Cancer Research Technology (now Cancer Research Horizon), for 17 years being responsible for the successful prosecution of screening campaigns, for both the internal portfolio and to support the various CRUK Drug Discovery Units, before being responsible for external technology collaboration such as working with CROs and successfully setting up the CRUK-AZ CRISPR centre in Cambridge. Finally in 2021, Dr Turlais moved to Evotec Toulouse, to take up the role of VP of Sample management, where he is now responsible for the support to internal Drug discovery integrated projects with sample distribution as well as supporting external companies with their compound management need worldwide.
