Ph.D. student
Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP, ScreeningPort, 22525 Hamburg, Germany, Germany
My name is Annika Wittich and I recently started Ph.D. studies in July 2022 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP, Discovery Research ScreeningPort in Hamburg. I studied Molecular Life Sciences (M.Sc.) in Hamburg and in UmeƄ, Sweden and completed in May 2022. I conducted my Master thesis also at the Fraunhofer ITMP working on assay development using human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)- derived neuronal precursor cells. My prime focus and motivation is on the application of iPSCs and their differentiation into disease-affected cell types for drug discovery. I am implementing automation-compatible high-throughput screening assays based on these cellular models to identify known drugs for alternative targets and indications in different contexts of rare neurological diseases.
