Luzia Gyr studied chemistry and did her Ph.D. at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. She then worked for a year in bioanalytics at a pharmaceutical start-up company. She then worked as a post-doc at Leibniz-HKI in the "Transfer Group for Anti-Infectives" to develop new anti-infectives. There she was responsible for bioanalytics and automation of in-vitro tests. Since this year, she is leading a new robotic platform for discovering and developing new antibiotics at Leibniz-HKI.
