My name is Qian Wei, Ph.D on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I am working as a postdoc researcher (research scientist) at Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital, Norway.
I have broad research experience on different projects, from cell cycle and telomerase activity regulation to cancer cell oxidative stress mechanisms. Currently my research interest is cancer immunotherapy. I have a strong background on tumor molecular biology and immunology, skilled at many molecular biology and biochemistry experiments as well as techniques on immunology.
I am now focusing on drug development for cancer immunotherapy, through drug screen on FoxP3+ Tregs to block the tumor immune evasion mechanisms. My work is developing phenotypical and biochemical drug screen assays, performing high-throughput screen and in vitro/in vivo functional validation of compound candiates in disease models, as well as further establishing of miniaturized immune functional assays on cancer patient samples. There is always a high motivation to translate my knowledge and experience on basic science into therapeutic applications.
