Functional single cell experiments reveal individual characteristics of live cells that would remain hidden in bulk analyses. Experiments with such resolution also enable the identification of cells with outstanding properties. Applications where these cell-to-cell differences will most likely play an important role include cell line development work flows, as well as any functional assay that is carried out with primary cells, where substantial heterogeneity is to be expected.
Over the past decade, tremendous progress has been made in providing tools for high-throughput analysis of large cell populations. However, there is a burning need for technologies that enable the study of large cell populations on the single cell level in an environment that closely resembles in vivo conditions, without significantly stressing the cells, while allowing to isolate cells of interest for downstream processes after analysis - all in an economical manner.
ARRALYZE is a digital cell biology platform that provides all of the above mentioned features by using extremely miniaturized glass-well arrays for functional single cell screening.
