Riccardo Mele is a scientist at Analytical Development and Innovation laboratory in Merck site Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland.
After a first experience in automation of ADME assays and liquid handling in pre-clinical research studies, he joined the Merck Biotech R&D facility of Guidonia, Italy in 2017. Here, he was in charge of the development and validation of analytical methods, and transfer to QC labs of Merck’s network. He acted as technical expert for the project of automation of QC methods, implementing GMP-compliant laboratory automation.
Since 2021, he’s been working for Merck Switzerland as key member of end-to-end robotics project for the new state-of-the-art Biotech facility in Vevey, which will include 5 Thermo Fisher’s robotic platforms. In parallel to setting up end-to-end analytical methods on the existing platforms, he’s working as technical lead for their upgrade and relocation to the new facility, being accountable for different engineering and digital integration matters.
