Karolina works with innovations on a daily basis, she also creates bridges between the industry and academia to foster fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboriation between these two world. She also engages in the start-up and innovation ecosystem and support the efforts in these areas in particular in Poland.
Karolina prior to AstraZeneca worked at the Sano Center of Computational Medicine where she was Development Director and dealt with areas such as business development, fundraising, communication and branding. She was responsible for creating relationships with both the scientific and industrial communities within Sano and acquiring R&D projects also as part of commercial cooperation. Before Sano, she was the Business Development Director at Ardigen, which deals with AI, bioinformatics and software engineering (activity as part of the services provided by the company) for the broadly understood life science, where she was mainly responsible for European and US markets, here she also worked on early market verification R&D solutions created by Ardigen. One of the results of her work within the services was the creation of an AI platform for the analysis of medical images as a product provided by Ardigen.
Karolina is a biotechnologist by training with a specialization in technical biochemistry, and she completed her PhD in structural bioinformatics focused on work on methyltransferases and their involved in cancer formation. She also worked in the USA at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, Biophysics Department, where she worked experimentally on genomic projects and combined bioinformatics techniques with crystallography to solve the most difficult protein structures.
