Dr Gráinne Gernon, PhD, Senior Scientist, Astrazeneca
Gráinne Gernon is a Senior Scientist in the Functional Genomics, Target Validation team at AstraZenca, Cambridge, United Kingdom. She applies arrayed CRISPR screening for target identification, validation and mechanistic annotation in oncolgoy projects. She has a strong research interest in identifing and developing novel therpeutics for oncology.
Before joining AstraZeneca, Gráinne worked in the Target Validation and Disease Positioning team at Cancer Research UK Therapeutic Discovery Labs (now known as Cancer Research Horizons) where she supported target validation efforts across the drug discovery pipeline. She received a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and a PhD in cancer genetics from University of Edinburgh. Her postdoctoral work was done at National Univeristy of Ireland, Galway, foscuing on understanding methods of TRAIL resistance and death receptor mediated apoptosis.
